DEFAMATION: AFFIRMATIVE DEFENSE OF TRUTH

In a defamation action, the defendant is not responsible for the plaintiff’s harm, if any, if they prove their statement(s) about the plaintiff were true. The defendant does not have to prove that the statement(s) were true in every detail, so long as the statement(s) were substantially true.
