Child Support, Generally

Child support is a support owing on behalf of a child, which includes past due support and arrearages. Both parents are obligated to support their minor children in a manner suitable to the child’s circumstances. All minor children of the parents are owed a statutory duty of support. This obligation is not tied to marital status of the parents. This obligation is not limited to biological offspring, and the duty is gender-neutral.
